Don’t really want to

I love this picture of our daughter! This is her special expression when she doesn’t really want to do what we tell her to do. She pulls her shoulders up, puts her head on one side, and smiles this cute little smile… Quite hard to resist…
I made this layout for Scrap the girls June challenge. It’s a color challenge with cream, light pink, dark pink and black. I wanted to use a lot of different mists and Distress Stains to create the right “pink feeling”. This is what I came up with.

I first painted part of the cardstock with pink Distress Stain. I then sprayed with three different shades of pink Glimmer Mist, and finally “dipped” the cardstock in “pearls” of Distress Stain (pink and red). It was an experiment but I kind of liked the result :)

The flowers are colored with different shades of pink (and black) mists that I both sprayed and splashed. The checkered paper is a Webster’s paper that I decorated using a black pen and some rhinestones.

Left of the picture I decorated with a black rub-on from K & Company, stamps, black ink, and some flowers cut out of Webster’s patterned papers.

Learning by doing!

This month’s challenge at Kraft It Up is to create a layout on Kraft using a “time line”. It shall contain a minimum of three pictures and a journaling telling the story of what the “time line” is about. When I saw this challenge I immediately thought of these three pictures of our daughter at her two years birthday. If I was a good mother I guess I should have prophesied this risk and warned her that candles are hot. But… I didn’t just miss that – I’m showing it here too… ;)

On this layout I wanted to do something a little bit different than usual. Inspired by my new Distress Stains I wanted the paint to play the lead, using less embellishments. I started painting with three different colors of Distress Stains. I then stamped with two different shades of pink, using bubble wrap (bigger than usual). I continued stamping small hearts in copper and splashing some yellow mist. To highlight the title (I didn’t think I needed any journaling to capture the story of these pictures) I sew with “Sew easy fancy floss” under it.

Thanks so much for visiting!

Together

This is my contribution to the ongoing challenge at ARTastic. The challenge is to get inspired by the painting “Argenteuil” by Edouard Manet. I love this painting! The colors… the feeling of summer and calmness... To get some extra points you should have two people on the photo, use striped patterned papers and include a boat somewhere on the layout.
The picture is of my husband and our daughter playing at the beach. (You are able to see the face of my husband on the layout but unfortunately I couldn’t get it bright enough on this picture.) There are boats both on the picture and on one of the patterned papers.

The background is decorated with a mask and yellow glimmer mist (to create a feeling of sunshine and to pick up one of the colors in the painting). Below the picture I painted with beige Distress Stain to create a feeling of sand. Beside the picture I decorated with some awesome black rub-ons from K & Company and stamped some “grass” in copper.
I decorated with a lot of different striped patterned papers. These papers from Maja Design looks a bit like shirt fabrics – just like the dress on the painting! I used some different edge punches and you can see some of the Distress Stain underneath one of the punched papers. The beautiful vellum piece is from K & Company.
I decorated with some more papers from Maja Design in the corner and stamped two seagulls in black.

Thanks for looking!

Dirty little thing

Today there’s a new challenge up at The Lollipop Ladies! Yummy chocolate paste on the beaters! The extra challenge is to add some metal. Brown and metal… way out of my comfort zone. This makes it so much more fun! The picture is of my daughter playing with mud. It has splashed up in her face and on her arms in perfect dots – looking exactly as freckles! I just had to take a picture! But I just had my mobile camera with me so it’s not that visible. Anyway, it’s a funny memory and I think it’s perfect for this challenge!

I thought it would be fun not only to add metal embellishments, but also to add some “metal color” on the layout.  So I started up “painting” with silver ink, an ink blending tool and a mask. I then added the picture and the embellishments on the middle of it. The gorgeous birds from K & Company were perfect here – both because there are a lot of birds where the picture is taken, and because they had the right colors.

The branch is made with in a die-cut machine. The tickets are stamped on two different silver papers and cut out. The flowers are cut out of a patterned paper (I couldn’t resist adding SOME bright colors).

My metals are two butterflies. I chose to have one in silver and one in bronze.

Finally I decorated the edges. I stamped with an ink pad in bronze and attached some Tim Holtz Tissue Tape (which I use to seldom).

Thanks for looking! I'm looking forward to see your interpretations at The Lollipop Ladies!!!

Egg Hunt

These pictures are taken this Easter when our daughter went for an egg hunt in our garden. I wanted the layout to have “Easter embellishments” but not “Easter colors”.
I fell in love with these rabbits from Crafty Secrets. Aren’t they marvelous? The background behind them is sprayed with lime mist and stamped with copper ink. Behind the pictures and the rabbit with a basket I used yellow mist.

To create a "happy Ester feeling" I decorated with some eggs, flowers etc. The beautiful papers with chickens are from Pion Design.
For the title I used an alpha die and two different patterned papers.

It’s the little things

This is a picture taken an ordinary day when we met daddy for lunch in the city where he works. It was a happy moment and we felt like if we were stealing some time together.

This layout is dominated by the Pink Paislee Daily Junque papers but I also added some other embellishments. They fitted so well with those papers, however, as you might not see them at a first glimpse.
The apricot colored edge is done with Martha Stewart's edge punch Garden Trellish. I used it as normal and then cut out the outermost part.

I love to use mists, masks and stamps on my layouts. On this one I used three different mists – pink, reddish and purple. I also stamped with a cute little stamp from Inkido.

Thanks for looking!

Material:
Mists: Tattered Angels 'Cadillac Pink', 'Rum Punch' (reddish), Fully Purple; Stamp: Inkodo; Ink: Versa Color 'Copper'; Edge Punch: EK Martha Stewart 'Garden Trellis', 'Binding Edge'; Patterned Papers: Pink Paislee 'Daily Junque', Cosmo Cricket 'Upcycle' (red); Embellishments: Paper House (parrot and flowers), Websters (Fabric Tickets and car cut out from Trendsetter paper), Fancy Pants (die-cut text).

My first layout as a DT for The Lollipop Ladies!

Today there’s a new challenge up at The Lollipop Ladies! The challenge is to be inspired by the colors of this ice cream and to have swirls on your project. Personally, I always try to catch the feeling of the particular picture in a challenge too. In this case I found the candy/picture to be a bit “playful” so that’s what I tried to accomplish with this layout. The picture is of our daughter playing with some finger paint. I thought the colors of this challenge would go best with a colorful picture and this one was perfect in every ways.

I love the colors of this challenge and used them both as ink and patterned papers. I also wanted to incorporate the color of the ice cream stick and did that in the photo mat :). I made the swirls myself, just drawing them on the paper and cutting with a knife. The title is placed on one of the swirls.

Finally I added some matching embellishments and stamped a dragonfly.

Thanks for looking! I hope you will all join this challenge – I can’t wait to see your projects!

Easter Witch

This is a picture from last Easter. Usually I scrap the pictures immediately but there were so many fun challenges last month so I preferred to scrap them first. So, that’s why it’s Easter here at my blog at this time of the year!
On this layout I used a lot of different mists (five different). They were all yellow (2 shades) and pink (3 shades), though. It was fun to work with different shades in this way. Actually my purpose was to capture the colors in Sassafras Lass ‘Starters: Line Up’ and ‘Sweetly Smitten: Pen Pals’ that I thought was beautiful together. But I didn’t want it to be obvious that I used Sass Lass products. To manage, I used dies, other embellishments and mists (as mentioned).

Thanks for looking!
