This layout is made for Mays challenge at ARTastic Challenge. The challenge is to get inspired by the painting “Mother and Sarah Admiring the Baby” by Mary Cassatt. The layout shall include a single photo of a mother, grandma, child etc holding a baby, a lace and something orange. This is my take on the challenge. I tried to stick to the colors of the painting. It was an extra challenge for me as it’s not a combination that I’m used to work with. (Usually I use a lot of cerise with orange). In this layout I tried to let gray and beige dominate (except for the orange color). And I must say that it was a lot of fun!
I got inspired by the lovely orange die-cuts from K & Company. With them as a starting point I started looking for different embellishments, mists and patterned papers that could create the right combination. The background is made of beige glimmer mist and a mask with dots from The Crafter’s Workshop. To get some extra effect behind the “botanical vellum” I used a rather colorful shade of lime green (Key Lime).
I then stamped some sun flowers in black and went on arranging the different embellishments (and the lace!).
