Challenge 38 at Punky Scraps

At the turn of the year I and my friend Zima started a collaboration where we put together kits to each other each month. We pick something nice out of the stuff each of us has left over – things that we like but we know we will not use ourselves. The rules are that we will create a layout within a month where it’s visible that you used the kit, but you are allowed to add stuff yourself. This is so fun!!!!! Both to receive a lot of scrap stuff, the challenge to create with that, and to see what the other one creates with your “junk”. I never met Zima IRL and don’t know anything about her, except what she shows on her blog, and that makes this even more challenging.
This is what I created out of my January kit:
This layout is made for this month sketch challenge at Punky Scraps.
In my interpretation the three pictures is the three tags to the right of the picture.
I made an envelope that I put in the same place as in the sketch.
I finally included the shape of a circle…
…and the “trim/banner-shape” at the top.
And of course I splashed some paint on the background! I also worked with modeling paste, Glimmer mists, gesso and Distress Inks.
Are you curious about what was in the kit I received..? Well, here it is:
I hope you like this! And I especially hope that Zima likes it!!! I haven’t seen what she has created yet but I guess that she will post it this weekend. Pop over and have a look at it here!
…And I just have to say… Thank you Zima for this fabulous kit!!! And thank you for proposing this collaboration!!! It’s so super-fun!!!
Thanks for looking! Wishing you all a nice weekend!!!

A Blog Award!

Today I got a very sweet blog award that made my day! Thank you so much Misty for passing along the Liebster blog award to me today!

"Liebster" is a German word meaning dearest, beloved or favorite, and the Liebster Award is sort of a chain letter among bloggers that's intended to showcase exceptional up-and-coming blogs (typically, those with 200 or fewer followers).  There's no evaluation committee or formal award process for the Liebster, but in a way it's even nicer - it's recognition that a peer has noticed and appreciated your hard work.
Here are the rules:
Choose 5 up and coming blogs of fewer than 200 followers to award the Liebster to.
Show your thanks to the blogger who gave you the award by linking back to them.
Post the award on your blog.  Link back to the blogs you have given the Liebster to so everyone else can pay them a visit.
And now I am sharing and passing on the award to five wonderful blogs that I hope you will want to stop by for a visit:

Calling Grandma

This layout is made for the ongoing challenge at Kraft it up! They have a fabulous color combo this month – and it’s perfect with kraft! Here’s my take on the challenge:
I love to use paint on my layouts and with this color combination I could use a lot of paint! Oh, this was fun! In addition to acrylic paint, I have also used gesso and Distress Ink.

I used some bright papers from Basic Grey’s Lauderdale. The white/transparent butterflies from K & Company fit perfectly with all that color.
The chipboard heart is covered with yellow Washi tape. There is also some red Washi tape under it.
And for those who understand Swedish, here’s the journaling:

Thank you so much for looking and leaving all those lovely comments!!! It really makes me happy!!!

Punky Scraps Challenge 37

This layout is made for challenge 37 at Punky Scraps. It’s a picture challenge and I got inspired both by the colors and the tree.
The picture shows DD and her oldest friend. They got to know each other when she was five month old and he moved in to a house near us. (He was ten months old back then).

The background is decorated with mist, gesso, Distress ink and acrylic paint. The flowers are fuzzy-cut from different patterned papers and the branch is made with a die.

The tree is a chipboard from October Afternoon.
Birds from October Afternoon and Washi tape from Hambly Screen Prints.
Thank you SO much for looking!!! And for leaving comments!!!

Where’s the winter?

This LO is about the warm weather we have had in Sweden this winter. It has been almost 10ᵒC (Celsius degrees) which means no snow… At least not in the southern part.

The LO is made for a sketch challenge at Scrap Perra (a Swedish webshop).

I wanted the whole layout to look a bit like the rainy weather we have so I used some snowflake dies on beige papers to make it look like withered plants (which is what we have instead of snow)… The burlap is colored with some gesso and brown Distress Ink.

The background is embossed with transparent snowflakes. I have sprayed some Glimmer Mists over them to make them more visible.
Thanks for stopping by and leaving comments!!! It really makes my day!!!

Baking gingerbread biscuits

In Sweden it’s a tradition to eat gingerbread biscuits at Christmas. As they are so fun to bake you always try to bake them with your children. This layout is made for the December challenge at Kraft it up!. The challenge is to make a layout (on kraft paper) about a Christmas tradition with a picture that shows the tradition. (The deadline is extended until today!)

The “frame” behind the picture is cut out from a package of embellishments from October Afternoon (recycling!). The "gingerbread biscuits" beneath the picture are brads from EyeLet OutLet. Cute aren’t they? :) Most of the papers used are from Crate’s Christmas collection (Peppermint) that I’m in love with.

These gorgeous flowers are part of a prize I won in a challenge that Chantal Vandenberg was hosting at Do more with less in November. I LOVE them and I have been waiting for the right opportunity to use them… (Hope you think this gave them justice Chantal ;) )

Thank you so much for looking! I think it’s SO FUN when you’re stopping by here and leave comments! It really makes my day!!!

Swinging Lucia

This is my DT layout for ARTastic's January Challenge. The challenge is to get inspired by the painting Ecstasy of Saint Cecilia by Raphael. You should also try to include clouds, an angel embellie and 2-3 musical instruments on your layout.

In Sweden we celebrate Saint Lucia in December and I thought that a picture of DD taken on this special occasion was perfect for this challenge. I thought it would be fun to use this cut out paper as a background instead of cutting out pieces to use. I decorated it with some gesso to make it look like clouds (or snow). You’ll also find clouds – and 3 instruments – on the left of the layout. The angel embellie is placed on the right side of the picture.

And here’s some close ups. The chipboard is painted with Distress Stickles in silver and gold. The gorgeous white flowers are from Jenni Bowlin. One of them is decorated with a trim from Webster’s cut in small pieces.

Thanks for looking! I hope that you want to play along!!! You can check out the other DT ladies gorgeous layouts here!

Growing wilder

As DD is growing older she is also “growing wilder” and that’s what this LO is about. I wanted it to have a bit of a country feeling and made the background as a patch work. It’s a bit different from what I usually do as I haven’t used any mist or paint. I also used fewer embellishments on this one. It’s fun to try something new once in a while. Don’t you think?

Here’s some close ups…

Thank you so much for looking and leaving comments! It’s SO appreciated!!!
