“If you love my smile I will sleep with it"

I just realized I forgot to show you this layout that I made for Scrap The Girls for March. It is a sketch challenge this month and the sketch is quite far from what I usually create. So it was a challenge. But I love challenges and I really love the result.

 

 

Maybe it is hard to see, but I followed the sketch quite closely. I placed both the title and the flowers in the right place. It is just that my flowers are on patterned papers and on stamps.

The text on the layout says: “If you love my smile I will sleep with it". That’s what our daughter said one night when she was going to bed. I reached for the camera to be able to save the memory.

Mud all over

March challenge at ARTastic is to get inspired by a painting by Barbara Hanrahan. The criteria is to use a quote or a saying on your page. I chose a quote by Albert Einstein saying “Play is the highest form of research”. I thought it was perfect with this photo of DD and her friend with mud all over them. I guess they have done some research... ;-)

 

 

I used some grey watercolour on the background and splashed on acrylic paint in different colours to enhance the mud-theme. It’s been a while since I used that technique and it was SO fun! I also added some acrylic paint in neon yellow to match one of the reflective vests on the photo. Here are two close-ups showing the techniques:

Baby it's cold outside

The challenge this month at Allt Om Scrap is to create something using the frase Baby it's cold outside. I was waiting for the snow to fall but it never came: So I added the word not and made a layout about the winter beeing warm instead. Here is my DT-layout:

I used some water color, acrylic paint and stamps to create the background.

Love to run

ARTastic has a painting by Josh Miles as an inspiration picture. The criteria is: color palette. I loved these soft colors and here is my DT-layout:

 

 

The photo shows our daughter running at that path along the beach that was my favourite place to run when I was a little girl. I loved to watch her running there... She loves to run - ant time and anywhere.

Green moodboard at Scrap The Girls

This month we have a wonderful moodboard to be inspired by at Scrap The Girls. I loves all the green colors! I used water colors in different shades on the background and stamped flowers using gelatos and water to get even more of a water color effect. Here is my DT-layout:

PL cards with different mixed media techniques

Today I show some different ways to use mixed media techniques to create your own personal PL cards at Allt Om Scrap. (And of course I show it here too). I have kept it a secret during the whole year of 2014 that I have been doing PL pages. ;-) But I have had a lot of fun and sometimes I think it is fun to create personal cards that match the photos.

On this page I did my own graffiti with words that match the photos. They are made with a water-resistant black pen and Pro Markers. You can also do your own graffiti with gelatos and a water pen. I showed a sample of that here in my blog earlier this month. You can have a look at it over here.

On this page I only added some acrylic paint in grey and two of the colors in the photos. I also splashed on some black mist.

 

 

On this page I used dabbers in different sizes to make circles in different colors. I highlighted them by using a black and a white pen.

On this last page I stamped some flowers and colored them with Pro Markers. These could also be made with Gelatos and water.

Cool!

ARTastic has a cool inspiration picture this month! It is a piece of street art by Fintan Magee. There are no criteria this month but you should tell how you were inspired.

I was inspired by the masquerade theme and the brick wall.

The photo of our daughter is taken on a festival when we passed a tent where children could dress up. She dressed up in a lot of different ways and we had so much fun. I think maybe this was even more fun than the Tivoli part of the festival and it was totally unplanned. This story explains the text used on the layout.

Graffiti!

We have a FAB challenge at Allt Om Scrap this month!!! We have a colorful photo of a graffiti as inspiration and you are free to get inspired in any way. Here is my DT layout:

 

The inspiration Picture:

 

 

I was inspired to do my own graffiti on a white cardstock. I wrote the word "VILD", which means wild in English. When I was satisfied with the letters I draw them with a black water-resistant pen and erased the lines from the pencil. Finally I colored it with Gelatos and a water pen. It took a while, but it was quite meditative and fun! And I really like the result! I used an edited photo to get even more of a street art feeling on the layout.

DT at Scrap The Girls!

I have some wonderful news for you!! I am now part of the design team at Scrap The Girls! They have a perfect concept with mood boards/color schemes and sketches. I love it and I am really looking forward to all the challenges!

Here is my first DT layout:

 

 

I used paint instead of flowers in my interpretation of the sketch. To be sure not to go too far away from the sketch I also stamped some flowers. The tags on the sketch turned into triangles/arrows. I also have the “journaling” and the title in the right places.

It was the day before Christmas so we were wondering if the Tooth Fairy and Santa Claus would meet in our place during the night. And they did – in the morning we found that they had shared a cup of tea beside the Christmas tree!

Christmas morning

Hi everyone! I got some news for you. From December I will run Allt Om Scrap, the Swedish challenge and inspiration blog. Working language is Swedish, but I will fix a translate buttom. And pictures speaks a transnational language. :) I hope you will stop by over here now and then, and you are welcome to take part in our challenges!

Our challenge for December is to create on the theme: sparkle and shine. Here is my layout:

I used some golden acrylic paint on the background and added some golden glitter in the wet paint. Here are some close ups:

The journaling capture some fun centences that our daughter said last Christmas. It says: "How can Santa Claus afford so many Christmas gifts?" and "Mom, if you wish it as a Christmas gift from Santa Claus, you do not have to pay". (I hope you manage to understand my translision).

Monochromatic black

Todays challenge at Allt Om Scrap is to create in monochromatic black. I made a layout using only black (and white). I didn’t even use grey. Even the water color on the background is black. It was really fun and not as hard as I thought it should be. Here is the result:

Blossom

Scrap Around The World has a gorgeous mood board for November and I manages to finish a layout just in time. When I saw all the flowers it inspired me to use photos from our garden as "patterned papers" behind the photo. (Gardening is my second hobby). Here is my interpretation:

I chose some photos in the "right" colors and printed them on white papers as I wanted them to look like patterned papers and not like photos.

 

As usual, I worked with water colors and stamps. When I chose embellishments I chose word stickers that fit both the photos from our garden and the photo of our daughter.
