Silliness at ARTastic

April starts with April Fool’s Day and “in honour of pranksters and joke loving people, the inspiration piece at ARTastic comes from the Alice in Wonderland series of painting by Charles Blackman". Criteria is anything goes but your photo must depict crazy antics, silliness or just having loads of fun.

I chose a photo of DD and her grandfather posing in a silly way. When he does something silly (happens very often) she is immediately copying him. :)

 

I used yellow watercolour, purple acrylic paint and green ink on a template (to match the pattern from the chess board) to create the background.

 

I thought I should start to show you some small tips and tricks/ideas when I have some. On this page I show a way to create embellishments that you can use in the same way as flair buttons. I have used two different stamps, cut them out and fastened them with 3D Foam. In this way you add texture to your page and get an embellishment in exactly the shade you want! If you use a lot of wet media to create your background this might also be the only way to add it as the layout is wrinkled…

Happy birthday!

For once I found some time to join in on a challenge between the DT assignments. I really should try to do that more often! I choose That’s just so cute who are wishing for stars on your project. Here is my take:

 

I used watercolours and splashes of mist on my background. And of course I added a lot of stars! :)

 

I also used some olive green ink and did a lot of stamping. The picture is taken at our daughters birthday.

Make a list… DD’s favourite things

I almost forgot to show you this one. Kraft It Up! March challenge is to create a layout based on a “list”. I chose to ask DD what she loves most and list that on my layout. A perfect memory to save for the future in an album. For those who cannot read Swedish (or cannot read my handwriting) no 1 is hammerhead shark and no 2 mummy… She has never seen a hammerhead shark… ;)

Texture at ARTastic

There is a new challenge up at ARTastic. The inspiration piece is a painting by Lyn Butchart and the criteria is texture. I used blue and white as in the painting and I also added a bird. I made some textured dots with modelling paste and a template. I also used a lot of water color. Part of the black and white paper used as a photo mat is colored with Neo Color II.

Flowing paint at Allt Om Scrap

This week we want paint to flow at Allt Om Scrap. I used watercolours to create a soft look. Here is my DT layout:

Silver, black and white at Allt Om Scrap

This layout is made for a challenge at Allt Om Scrap. The challenge is to use silver, black and white – and only those colors. I edited the photo to make the colors softer to fit the color combination. I loved working with these colors! Here is my DT layout:

Using up old alpha stickers

Allt Om Scrap has a challenge to use up old alpha stickers. I chose to use numbers (they are always left.) The layout is about DD and a friend having a little talk about ages. It was so funny I wanted to save it for the future.

Birthday morning

Punky Scraps goes red, pink, grey and black this month. You should also include tree of these: staples, masks, misting, feather and flair. I used a mask (with red acrylic paint), pink mist and a flair.

We love Daylilies

This month Kraft It Up! wants you to create a layout about something you like. My DT-layout is about Daylilies (Hemerocallis). We have a lot of different Daylilies in our garden and in July DD and I start each day looking for new ones (each flower only bloom for one day). They are really our favourite flowers!

Paint and ink at ARTastic

Have you seen the new challenge over at ARTastic? I always love their challenges but this one is even more cool than usual. It is a painting by Joshua Miles and the criteria are paint and ink. I loved the colours so I stuck to it. I also used a portrait photo. Here is my DT layout:

 

I used watercolours, Neo Color II (with water) and ink on my background. I had a lot of fun!

Neon at Punky Scraps

I always love our challenges at Punky Scraps. Probably because they are "always" colourful. This time it is more bright than ever. We go for neon colors in January! I love to create with neon colors. This time I wanted them to really show so the only thing I added was black and white. I used neon acrylic paint in yellow, orange and red. They are really bright IRL, but it does not really show in the photos...

Triangles and diamond shapes at ARTastic

ARTastic has as always an amazing piece of art as an inspiration piece. This time it is a street art by Vexta. You should also use triangles or diamond shapes. Here is my interpretation:

 

 

I used both diamond shapes (stamped on the background) and triangles (stamped like arrows). I also stuck to the color scheme in the inspiration picture (not required). Here is a close up:

Summer at Kraft It Up!

Happy New Year to you all! A new year means new challenges. I will start this year with a DT layout made for Kraft It Up. This month we have a sketch for you. You should also use a summer themed photo, washi tape and a number.

Saint Lucia

This layout shows DD and her friends at kindergarten celebrating Saint Lucia. The picture is taken 2013 when it was -18 Celsius degrees! It was far too cold to be outside and I wanted to create a layout with a frosty feeling to remember that. That’s why I used an edited photo and only white, grey and beige colors.

 

The stamp at the left is sponsor material from Vida stamps. The pearls that I used to create an arrow pointing at DD from the top are sponsor material from Inkido. So are the pins with stars underneath the photo. The stars made by Birch bark are made by Hozzan. Here are some close-ups:

Christmas morning

Here is another DT-layout for Allt Om Scrap. The challenge is to create a layout using two different papers as a background. I used part of a paper with a huge Santa, part of a paper with texts and a white cardstock. (I know it’s three, but it looks like two...)

Chrismas decoration

This month I was lucky enough to be sponsored by Inkido and Vida Stamps trough Allt OmScrap. This is a mini album from Inkido and I used it to create a Christmas decoration that I can use every year. All the photos are taken on the 24^th of December when Santa visits us here in Sweden. There are one photo from each year since our daughter was born so you can see her growing up and enjoying Christmas. I wrote the year on each page.

Decorating for Christmas

This is a DT-layout for Punky Scraps. This December we want you to create a layout including sparkles, mix of alphas, 2 staples and a fun photo. I missed the sparkle thing... :( But I used a fun photo, mix of alphas and I did a fun arrow with the staples. Do the staples sparkle? Maybe in the right light?

This layout is made for a challenge at Allt Om Scrap where you are supposed to create something using cork on your alter. I have cut out the numeral one and together with the brad you read "No 1". The layout is about DD who loves to run - she is always running everywhere.

Our own sledding hill

For December you have two awesome color combinations to choose between at Kraft It Up! Eigther kraft, white, pink and gold or kraft, white, aqua and silver. I chose the last one and made a laout with a winter theme. It's about the fact that we have our own sledding hill in our garden. :)

 

 I used some gesso, mists and stamps on the background.

As I did'nt have that much silver-stuff in my stash I also used some silver glitter on the background. I added it in the same way as I'm usually adding acrylic paint...
